Hyères signs off World Cup Series Rounds in style

Hyères, France signed off round three of the 2018 World Cup Series in style with consistent wind conditions allowing the final five Olympic disciplines to conclude their competition. Marit Bouwmeester (NED) and Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström (SWE) wrapped up gold in the Laser Radial and Men’s 470 ahead of their Medal Races. However, it was still wide open in the remaining fleets as a great day of competition played out in a consistent 11-14 knot breeze.

Gold medals galore at World Cup Series Hyères

Eight gold medals were decided on the penultimate day of racing at the third round of Sailing’s World Cup Series in Hyères, France. Six Medal Races produced six final podiums with the other two gold medals being claimed by Marit Bouwmeester (NED) in the Laser Radial and Sweden’s Men’s 470 sailors Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström with a day to spare.

The South of France delivered a sensational day of sunshine and some stable breeze, living up to its name as a famous sailing location on the fourth day of competition at Sailing’s World Cup Series in Hyères, France. After three days of light and testing winds under grey and foggy skies, the sun shone proudly on day four, enabling the competitors to start on schedule.

The Hyères challenge continues

The third day of competition at round three of Sailing’s World Cup Series in Hyères, France provided further challenges for the competitors as light winds continued to dominate. The 647 sailors from 46 nations racing across the ten Olympic disciplines and one Para World Sailing event contested a variable 5-7knot breeze on day three which enabled the light wind specialists to move to the front of their fleets.

The third round of the series has seen light winds throughout the competition which has proven to be a challenge for all the sailors. However, today is looking much better as Hyères is expecting a moderate breeze of 7-10 knots coming from the east south-east. This will increase to 10-12 knots towards the afternoon with the wind direction traveling south-west. It's a cloudy start to the morning but gradually clearing to clearer skies with a few scattered clouds.
